Nestled in Mont Vénus, on the Northern coast of Rodrigues Island, at 1 km from the capital, Pointe Vénus Hotel & Spa overlooks Port Mathurin, its harbour and surroundings. This unspoilt site where lies the first 4-star hotel of Rodrigues could have been the perfect getaway for Venus, the Goddess of Love who has inspired many poets by her ethereal beauty but history has decided otherwise… Mont Vénus was, in fact, named after Venus, the planet. Indeed, it goes way back to the visit of French astronomer Alexandre Guy Pingré who was sent by the French Royal Academy of Sciences to observe the Transit of Venus in Rodrigues, namely at Mont Vénus, in June 1761. A phenomenon which recurred on the 08th June 2004, placing Pointe Vénus Hotel & Spa in the limelight. Mont Vénus also takes on a symbolical character for the Rodrigueans since it once harboured the very first hotel of the island known as Relais Pointe Vénus.
