Pamplemousse Botanical Garden: The main name of this spectacular garden is Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden (SSR). It is one of the most important tourist locations of Mauritius. Its situated near the Port Louis and known as the oldest botanical garden in the entire southern hemisphere. In the year 1767 this spectacular garden, covering an area of 37 hectares, was built by Pierre Poivre. Mon Plaisir, the chateau of Pierre Poivre is also housed here. The most attractive flora is the 85 different varieties of palms trees brought in different corners of the world. Other indigenous species of plants are also exhibited here.
